Indianapolis Overgrown Grass Ordinance

You should mow your grass in Indianapolis once a week during the spring and fall. In July/August when it dries out and or enters drought conditions, then you can reduce the frequency of mowing to Bi-weekly or every 2 weeks, or every other week. This will help to keep your grass healthy and prevent it from getting too tall.

Letting your lawn get overgrown can have a number of negative consequences. Not only does it look unsightly, but it can also attract pests and rodents, and it can create many hazards such as, fire, hidden dangers like holes or rocks, collects trash and debris, and people dump and throw trash, it allows hiding anything, . In many cases, it can lead to fines from the city, people getting hurt, things getting lost or broken or you getting sued.

If you live in a city with a lawn care ordinance, such as in Marion County, Indianapolis, Indiana, there is a good chance that you could be fined if your lawn is not kept up to code. The amount of the fine can vary depending on the severity of the violation, plus the labor and cost of mowing extremely overgrown grass, or vegetation and it can be a significant amount of money.

If your sub-edition/neighborhood has rules and regulations or HOA, then they can also fine you, charge a fee, or take legal action. In addition to the financial penalty, letting your lawn get overgrown can also damage your reputation in your neighborhood. If your lawn is the only one on the block that is not well-maintained, it will likely stand out and make you look like a bad neighbor.

If you are struggling to keep up with your lawn care, there are a few things you can do to avoid getting a fine. First, make sure that you are aware of the lawn care ordinance in your city. You can usually find this information on the city's website. Second, set aside some time each week to mow your lawn and trim the edges. If you have a large lawn, or any reason at that matter,  you may want to hire a lawn care company like Indy Lawn Mowing to provide a professional scheduled weekly mowing service that can help you out. Finally, if you are going to be away from your home for an extended period of time, make sure that someone else is taking care of your lawn.
